Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to support pupils with SEND in mainstream primary settings in Garston, Liverpool. You will work with class teachers and SENCOs to provide 1:1 and small-group support, contributing to pupil access to the curriculum across daily and longer-term placements.

The role requires patience, empathy, and strong teamwork. A Level 2/3 TA qualification is desirable, with DBS updates and right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one to one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Help to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques in line with school policies.
  • Support pupils' communication, confidence, independence and personal care where needed.
  • Encourage social skills and positive relationships with peers.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Adapt quickly to new pupils, routines and school environments.

SEND Teaching Assistants: Mainstream Primary Schools, Garston, Liverpool

Location: Garston, Liverpool

Job Type: Full time and part time, day to day and longer term

Sector: Primary Education (SEND)

About the Role

You will work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and learning difficulties. Depending on the placement, you may work with individual pupils, small groups or whole classes.

  • Provide one to one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
  • Help to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques in line with school policies
  • Support pupils' communication, confidence, independence and personal care where needed
  • Encourage social skills and positive relationships with peers
  • Work closely with teachers, parents and external professionals to support pupil progress
  • Adapt quickly to new pupils, routines and school environments
About You

Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting (those with relevant experience in other roles are also welcome to apply)

A patient, empathetic and resilient approach

Good communication and teamwork skills

A genuine commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing

Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a willingness to work towards one, is desirable but not essential

Right to work in the UK

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one
