Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant – Construction Pathway Location: Sutton, South London Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am – 4:00pm Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term or Temp-to-Perm for the right candidate Start Date: September 2025 A leading multi-academy trust in South London is seeking a committed and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to support students on a Construction vocational pathway within one of its specialist settings in Sutton. This Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ provision supports students in PRUs, Alternative Provision, and SEND environments, offering tailored education to learners with diverse and complex needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and behavioural challenges. This is an ideal role for someone with experience in vocational learning environments and a passion for making hands-on learning accessible and engaging for young people with additional needs. The Role: • Provide in-class and workshop-based support to students studying construction-related subjects • Promote student engagement, safety, and practical skills during hands-on activities • Work 1:1 and in small groups to reinforce learning, emotional regulation, and behaviour targets • Help implement strategies from students’ EHCPs and support inclusion in vocational education • Collaborate with construction instructors, teachers, therapists, and support staff • Support classroom organisation, health & safety compliance, and preparation of materials What We’re Looking For: • Experience supporting students with SEND, especially SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or those in alternative provision • A background or interest in construction, building trades, or vocational training is highly desirable • Confident behaviour management and de-escalation skills • A patient, consistent, and compassionate approach • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) • Strong teamwork and communication skills What We Offer: • Opportunity to work in an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ provision with a reputation for excellence • A meaningful role helping young people build life and vocational skills • Supportive staff team and leadership committed to inclusive education • Ongoing professional development and potential progression routes within the trust • Long-term stability with potential for permanent placement Apply now to make a genuine difference in the lives of learners and support their journey toward a brighter future.
