Job summary

Regency High School in Worcester is offering a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship to support pupils aged 11–19 with complex learning difficulties. The role involves helping learners overcome educational, physical, and communication challenges through patient, inclusive support, under the guidance of a classroom teacher.

The apprenticeship runs for 18 months with 33.5 hours per week, salary £8 per hour plus a pay rise after one year for those aged 19+.

Responsibilities

• Support children’s learning, development, confidence, and independence in class and wider school environment.
• Provide tailored support to individuals and small groups, including pupils with SEN and other learning needs.
• Assist teachers with lessons, literacy and numeracy activities, assessments, and learning programmes.
• Encourage pupils through positive reinforcement, praise, and patient guidance to overcome challenges and reach potential.
• Monitor and record pupils’ progress and share observations with teachers and relevant professionals.
• Support positive behaviour and help children develop social, emotional, communication, and self-help skills.
• Adapt and prepare learning activities and resources to meet individual abilities and needs.
• Support personal care, mobility, feeding, and other welfare needs when required.
• Assist with programmes recommended by professionals such as educational psychologists and speech and language therapists.
• Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment and support safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, colleagues, and external professionals to provide consistent support.
