Job Description:

Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant for a full-time position at a friendly primary school in Stafford, Staffordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing one-to-one support to a student with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, facilitating their academic progress and emotional well-being throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individualised support to a primary-aged student with SEMH needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  2. Establish a trusting relationship with the student, acting as a positive role model and promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
  3. Monitor and track the student's progress, adapting techniques as needed to meet their evolving needs.
  4. Assist with the development of the student's social skills, encouraging positive interactions with peers and adults within the school.
  5. Prepare resources and materials to support the student's learning, adjusting activities to suit their individual learning style.
  6. Demonstrate patience, resilience, and adaptability when working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours due to their SEMH needs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or other SEND needs in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and strategies for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • A compassionate and patient approach with a genuine passion for helping children with special educational needs.
