SEND Teaching Assistant

Sheffield, S25
£100 per day
Start date: January 2026
Contract type: Temp - perm
Working hours: Monday – Friday, (term time only) 8.30‑3.30

Unique School Solutions is supporting a friendly and inclusive primary school in the S25 area of Sheffield to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant to work with children with speech, language and communication needs in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. This is a full‑time role to commence in January 2026. Initially, this role will be long‑term temporary; there is the opportunity for a direct school contract for the right candidate with the school, following a successful probation period.

Essential requirements
  • Previous and recent experience of working with children with SEND in a school environment
  • Previous experience of working with children with a range of needs, including speech and language difficulties
  • Be prepared to support children’s physical needs, including supporting toileting, changing nappies and feeding children
  • Have a good understanding of how the fundamentals of reading, writing and maths develop in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • The ability to build rapport with young learners
  • The ability to use own initiative and work with other support staff
  • The ability to work 1:1 and support small groups with learning
