Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd in Romford is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support two pupils in Year 1 and Year 4 with Autism and ADHD in a primary setting. The role is 2 days per week, long-term, temp to perm, with weekly PAYE pay between £85.50 and £100 per day, starting November 2026.

You will deliver tailored interventions, support communication and emotional regulation, and work with teachers and parents to promote independence and positive behaviour while adapting activities to individual needs.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification is ESSENTIAL.
• A minimum of 2 years' SEND experience is ESSENTIAL.
• Experience in SEND provision, SEND school, or 1:1 support role.
• Strong knowledge of Autism and ADHD.
• Committed to safeguarding and children's welfare.

This is a specialist support role working with two pupils in Year 1 and Year 4 who have Autism and ADHD and are currently working at an EYFS level. The school is seeking a highly experienced SEND professional who can provide consistent, nurturing, and structured support to help pupils engage with learning and achieve their individual targets.

Thisis a successful primary school for pupils aged 4–11 with a strong commitment to inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and academic achievement.

Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Provide dedicated support for two pupils with Autism and ADHD
• Support pupils in Year 1 and Year 4 who are working at an EYFS learning level
• Deliver tailored interventions and learning activities
• Support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
• Work closely with class teachers, SEND staff, and parents

Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is ESSENTIAL
