Job description

Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Peterlee

Job Type: Contract, expected to work Full-Time hours

Primary Industry: Education and Training

Salary: £83 - £90 Per day

Location: Partnered School with Protocol Education

Full-time: 5 days per week (Part-time not available)

About the Role:
  • Provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 child with non-verbal autism
  • Assist with personal care needs, ensuring dignity and comfort
  • Support the child’s communication, engagement, and social development
  • Implement strategies to encourage independence and learning
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to tailor support
About You:
  • Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Comfortable with personal care responsibilities
  • Understanding of non-verbal communication techniques (PECS, Makaton, etc.)
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Passionate about making a positive impact in SEND education
