Job description

Axcis Education is working with a infant and primary school in Nuneaton. The school specifically caters to children and young people with SEMH, autism and MLD. The school has a support staff vacancy for a teaching assistant who can ensure the pupils can learn effectively through feeling safe, happy and engaged. The staff member will need to be able meet the very individual needs of it's pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties. This will be an active role 2-fold; 1. Supporting individuals with physical needs whom may be wheelchair users that may need assistance in manoeuvring as well as the use of a hoist. 2. Supporting individuals whom can be very active in and out of the classroom. Another key aspect of this role will be ensure all personal care tasks are carried out with the care and dignity of the individual being of the utmost priority. Job Details • Provide one-to-one or small-group support for pupils with PMLD. • Assist with physical and personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, mobility, and medical needs where appropriate (training provided). • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum using specialist equipment, communication aids, and sensory materials. • Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and self-esteem. • Prepare learning resources under the guidance of teaching staff. • Support in delivering lessons adapted to pupils individual needs • Provide feedback to teachers on student progress and challenges. • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists (e.g. speech & language, physio), and families. • Uphold the school’s policies and values regarding inclusion, safeguarding and equality. • Start Date: ASAP before the summer holidays and to return for the new academic year in September 2025 Requirements: • Experience in supporting individuals with PMLD needs – Essential • Ability to support physical and personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, mobility, and medical needs where appropriate – Essential • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service required or we’re happy to carry out a new one ahead of you starting the position – Essential • Minimum of 2 good references – Essential INDMID
