Milk Education is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support learners within a specialist post-16 educational setting in Harrogate from September. The setting provides a highly inclusive environment for young people with a range of additional needs, helping them to develop academically, socially and independently as they prepare for adulthood.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and making a lasting impact on their education, wellbeing and personal development.
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to learners throughout the college day.
Support teaching staff with personalised learning activities linked to individual EHCP outcomes.
Encourage learners to develop independence, communication and confidence.
Support life skills, employability activities and community-based learning where required.
Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement.
Work closely with teachers, support staff and therapists to provide consistent, high-quality support.
Support learners with personal care where required.
Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Encourage learners to participate in activities and develop skills for greater independence.
Caring, patient and resilient.
Passionate about supporting young people with SEND.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Flexible, proactive and able to adapt to individual needs.
Previous experience within education, care or support work is desirable.
Psychology, Education, Health & Social Care or related graduates are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge of Autism, learning disabilities or communication strategies is beneficial but not essential.
