Overview

An outstanding SEND School in Southwark is looking for a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately. This role is for individuals who want to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people who need it most.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, both in and out of class
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Help implement behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies
  • Assist with daily routines and transitions to promote consistency and security
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
  • Encourage emotional resilience, self-esteem, and positive social skills
What We're Looking For
  • A genuine passion for working with young people with SEMH needs
  • Relevant experience working in schools, with SEMH or SEN
  • Patience, emotional intelligence, and strong behaviour management skills
  • The ability to de-escalate situations and offer positive reinforcement
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people (formal or informal) is a plus
  • A background in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or care is also highly valued
