Job summary

Sunny Hill School, part of Keys Education, invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs at a PMLD setting. You will work under teacher guidance to adapt activities and promote pupil wellbeing.

We value experience in SEND, trauma-informed approaches and safeguarding; a DBS check is required. The role offers training and development within a growing school and a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Committed and passionate view of students with SEND.
  • At least two years’ experience in a SEND environment or equivalent.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pupils with learning activities under teacher guidance.
  • Support social, emotional, and behavioural development using trauma-informed approaches.
  • Help manage behaviour in line with policy and Staff Code of Conduct.

Purpose of the Role

To support teaching and learning by assisting teachers in delivering education and care to pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. The Teaching Assistant will embody the EPIC values and adhere strictly to the Staff Code of Conduct to create a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes pupil wellbeing and achievement.

We are a small school which effectively supports children through their educational journey . We are seeking staff members that are looking for a dynamic and forward-thinking team where we can shape the next phase of our journey and bring strategic clarity, energy and vision to our school.

We support a vast array of students who have learning difficulties which affect their learning, communication and daily life. We are committed to ensuring that all students learn and are engaged in the appropriate programme of study, which allows them to successfully engage with education and to achieve their very best outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pupils with learning activities, adapting support to individual needs under teacher guidance
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development using trauma-informed approaches
  • Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy and Staff Code of Conduct
  • Encourage pupil engagement and independence in learning tasks
  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
  • Support record-keeping and monitoring of pupil progress as directed
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly learning environment

Requirements

  • A committed and passionate view of students with SEND
  • At least two years’ experience minimum of working in a SEND environment or similar unit/provision
  • A level 3 TA qualification is advantageous
