About the Role

SEND Inclusion Support are working in partnership with a specialist primary school in Coventry that supports children with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We are seeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional needs to learn, grow and achieve their full potential.

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other professionals to support pupils with SEND in accessing the curriculum. You will provide individual and small group support, help children build their confidence and independence, and contribute to creating a positive, engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND, helping them access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and confidence.
  • Support pupils with communication, interaction, sensory or learning needs in line with their individual support plans.
  • Assist with the delivery of personalised learning activities and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support.
  • Observe and record pupil progress, sharing information with the wider team to support planning and development.
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs
  • A patient, calm and empathetic approach to working with children
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Resilience, flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, SEND or youth work are advantageous but not essential
