Early applications are encouraged. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is appointed beforehand.

Mayfield School is a special school for 310 pupils aged 3 to 19 with diverse special educational needs including PMLD, autism, and cognitive disabilities. We are proud to be a Unicef Rights Respecting School working towards the gold award.

The school operates across two sites: Wheeler Street in Lozells and Heathfield Road in Handsworth. Successful applicants may be asked to work at either site, with placement based on experience.

We value our teachers and support their professional development through tailored training. Our approach involves creative, innovative, and individualized methods to foster learning and progress, making a meaningful difference in students' lives.

Ideal candidates are reliable, positive, solution-focused, and committed to children's rights. Experience with children with SEND, especially autism spectrum conditions, is preferred but not essential; willingness to learn is crucial. ECTs are welcome.

We offer a supportive team environment, in-house training, PPA time from home, and a comprehensive benefits package including pension schemes, annual leave, onsite parking, and SEN allowances for all roles working with students.

Applicants must pass pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS, and provide references. For more information, please review our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies online.

To apply, submit only the Trust application form by the closing date. We do not accept CVs. If you do not hear within two weeks post-application, consider your application unsuccessful.
