Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEND Teacher for a specialist school in Walsall. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils aged 7–18 with EHCPs, supporting learning across a range of needs.

This role offers both full-time positions and flexible day-to-day cover, with small class sizes, strong TA support, and opportunities to develop SEND expertise in a dedicated environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND.
• Ability to differentiate lessons for individual learning needs.
• Strong understanding of EHCPs and learning frameworks.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS (Child & Adult) required.
• References covering the last 24 months.
• Prior experience in special schools or SEND settings advantageous.
• Additional training in Team Teach or Makaton desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach lessons tailored to pupils' needs.
• Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for diverse learners.
• Monitor progress toward EHCP outcomes.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Support development of communication and life skills.
• Apply effective behaviour strategies.
