Job description

St Clement’s & St John’s CE Infant School have a unique opportunity to recruit an outstanding SEND teacher with a passion for SEND as well as developing and inspiring a life long love of learning in children.

The successful candidate will work in a bespoke provision within the mainstream school. Our provision provides education to a cohort of infant aged pupils with complex needs including Autism, communication and language needs and global developmental delay. The provision is very much part of the mainstream school and where appropriate, children will join the main school for learning and activities. The successful teacher will be supported in their daily practice by a team of SEN teaching assistants.

  • experience working with EYFS and/or KS1 school aged children with complex SEN needs, including Autism, global delay and communication language difficulties, within a mainstream, resource base or a special school
  • high levels of energy, vision, positivity, motivation and resilience as well as being an empathetic, highly attuned approachable character
  • able to inspire, motivate and support children and staff as well as achieve outstanding outcomes
  • experience working collaboratively as part of a team and liaising with parents/carers and other professionals
  • the ability to adapt and use your initiative to enable the pupils you are working with to thrive
  • a commitment and passion to support pupils with SEND to thrive within a provision to achieve their full potential
  • the ability to see every child as unique and build positive relationships
  • a strong understanding of children’s emotional presentation and how to meet their emotional needs
  • commitment to continued professional development and willing to make a positive contribution to our whole school
  • this post is not suitable for ECTs
