Overview

Are you a dedicated and experienced SEN Teacher with a passion for supporting children with complex and multiple learning difficulties?

We are working with a specialist school in [Insert Area] that supports pupils with a range of severe and complex needs, including:

  • Physical disabilities
  • Medical and personal care needs
  • Speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Sensory processing disorders
  • Non-verbal communication, including PECS, Makaton, and other AAC systems

We are looking for a qualified teacher who is confident, creative, and resilient - someone who can deliver engaging, adapted lessons while meeting pupils\' holistic needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Role Includes
  • Planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs
  • Supporting pupils with profound and complex needs, in both academic and personal development
  • Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams (SALT, OT, physio, care staff)
  • Using alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton, switches, eye gaze etc.)
  • Creating a safe, engaging, and sensory-friendly learning environment
  • Leading and working alongside a team of experienced SEN support staff
Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
  • Experience teaching in a special school, resource base, or alternative provision
  • Knowledge of supporting pupils with physical disabilities, including familiarity with manual handling and hoist procedures
  • Experience delivering or supporting personal care routines
  • Understanding of communication systems like PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices
  • A nurturing, adaptable teaching style with strong behaviour management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
