Job summary

TARGETED PROVISION LTD in the West Midlands is recruiting experienced SEND tutors for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who have fallen out of mainstream education.

Sessions are typically 1–2 hours, in home or school settings, with hybrid options and flexible placements. Payment is monthly, at £28–£35 per hour, and you work as a self-employed tutor. You will be supported by a specialist SEND team and have access to CPD resources.

Qualifications

• 2+ years teaching or tutoring with SEND needs.
• QTS or QTLS or equivalent.
• Ability to promote safety and wellbeing for children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS and two professional references where required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one tutoring in English, Maths or Science.
• Sessions typically 1–2 hours, in home, school or community settings (hybrid options).
• Submit per-session reports and liaise with the SEND Support Specialist.
• Uphold safeguarding standards and right to work requirements.

Job description

You'll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced SEND tutors in West Midlands, £28 - £35 per hour, for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who've fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

How we work

Day to day

• One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
• Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many are out of school or at risk of being so.
• Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You'll need

• Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.
• Right to work: UK-based with right to work in the UK.
