SEND Science Teacher

£812.50 – £ 1060 per week depending on experience

Connex Education are seeking a Science Teacher to work in a SEMH Secondary Academy school located in Bolton Area, Greater Manchester.

About the School:

Rated Good by Ofsted.

This SEMH Academy aims to provide an outstanding educational provision to pupils aged 11-16. Pupils attending have needs identified within an Education Health & Care Plan relating to Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues.

The school offers a varied curriculum of academic, vocational and personal one to one education to ensure that its pupils have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

All staff have a clear understanding of pupils needs, they communicate well with parents and carers, going the extra mile for all pupils. They create a calm and engaging environment where pupils progress. The Academy aim is to inspire every young person to fulfil their true potential. They create learning environments that are innovative, motivational and impactful on pupils lives.

Assignment details:

Experienced SEND Science Teacher required

The hours are 8.30 – 3.30/4pm Monday-Friday.

Full time starting September, for one full term initially potential for long term

This role inproviding individualized support to students with SEMH needs, fostering positive relationships, and promoting well-being within the classroom.

Essential qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge Science
  • Experience teaching SEND secondary-age students
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

Person specification:

  • Experience of supporting children and young people struggle to manage their emotions, behaviour, and relationships, which can impact their learning and overall well-being. Be able to get to know pupils and get a good understanding of needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, Empathetic and Patient , being self-regulated and calm. With a positive supportive attitude.
  • Knowledge of SEMHUnderstanding of SEMH issues, strategies, and interventions.
  • Be able to interact well with pupils and staff and able to work well as a team.
  • Able to provide a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
