Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a policy or planning professional with strong knowledge of the education system, school place planning and SEND legislation to support local authorities in education planning. The role emphasizes data analysis, reporting, stakeholder engagement and effective project management.

The candidate will prepare papers and briefings for senior managers, manage multiple priorities, and work with partners to develop service improvements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the education system and the role of local authorities in education planning.
• Understanding of school place planning and school organisation processes.
• Understanding of SEND legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
• Knowledge of factors affecting education sufficiency, inclusion and specialist provision planning.
• Awareness of consultation processes and public sector governance.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent report writing and written communication skills.
• Ability to present complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
• Effective project management and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other data management systems.
• Experience of analysing complex datasets and producing reports.
