A respected education provider is seeking a dedicated SEND Primary Teacher in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. You will teach pupils with severe learning difficulties in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have Qualified Teacher Status, significant experience with SEND, particularly Autism, and a commitment to inclusive education. Protocol Education is working with a well-established specialist setting in Shrewsbury, Shropshire to recruit an experienced and dedicated SEND Primary Teacher.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who wants to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children with Autism, Learning Disabilities (LD), and associated complex needs.
You will be teaching pupils working at early developmental levels, with a focus on personalised, functional learning. The role is based in a nurturing, therapeutic environment where the emphasis is on holistic development—academic, social, and emotional.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons appropriate to pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
Adapting approaches to meet the individual needs of each learner
Promoting positive behaviour through reflective and therapeutic strategies
Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals
Supporting pupils with Autism, SLD, and complex needs in a small, structured class environment
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Significant experience teaching pupils with SEND, particularly SLD and Autism
A creative and flexible teaching style with a commitment to inclusive education
A reflective, calm, and nurturing approach
Excellent communication and team-working skills
A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Experience supporting pupils with MLD, complex needs, or behaviours that challenge
Experience working with looked-after or vulnerable children
Training or interest in therapeutic interventions and trauma-informed approaches
Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: Negotiable
Term Dates: Follows Shropshire school calendar (with some variation in INSET days)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
