Overview

Permanent – Start January 2026. SEND Practitioner (Transition) opportunity to join our friendly SENDCO team at Prior Park College, Bath, to provide academic support tailored to individual students SEND needs. The post holder assists the SENDCO in the development and delivery of neurodiversity to ensure the schools approach is proactive, informed, and aligned with best practices around neurodiversity.

The Learning Development Department is an innovative and forward-thinking department providing a holistic approach to support students with additional educational needs and neuro-complexities. The department offers a range of intervention strategies, supporting students to navigate their learning needs while developing metacognition, academic and self-confidence. External providers (e.g., OT and SALT) supplement our support, and the department delivers study skills in small groups, talks, and guidance to parents.

Responsibilities
  • Teach LDP group lessons focusing on core skills for a smooth transition from KS2 to KS3 and support KS2/KS3 transition.
  • Assist the SENDCO in developing and delivering support aligned with neurodiversity best practices.
  • Provide academic support tailored to individual SEND needs and act as a role model for SEND students.
  • Contribute to a varied support offer, including study skills delivery, talks, and guidance to parents.
  • Collaborate with external providers (e.g., OT, SALT) to complement the schools support provision.
About the Department

The Learning Development Department is dedicated to providing a holistic approach to supporting students with additional educational needs and neuro-complexities, developing their metacognition and confidence.

What We Offer
  • Excellent and supportive working conditions with a rewards package including free lunch and free onsite parking plus use of onsite gym.
  • Role is term time plus two weeks (37 weeks per year); hours between 8:00 and 18:00; Monday to Friday; 37.5 hours per week (hours to be agreed).
  • Salary: around £30k per annum FTE; actual pro-rata to around £25k per annum.
