Job summary

Long-term Teachers is recruiting a Post-16 Learning Support Assistant (SEND) in Exeter. This full-time, term-time only position runs Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00 with a start date of 9 November 2026. You will support learners aged 16–25 with SEND.

The role is mainly 1:1, with some small-group work, helping learners participate in personalised activities, develop independence and employability, and work with colleagues, families and external professionals to ensure consistent support.

Qualifications

• Experience in education, support work, care, youth services or disability support.
• Background in SEND education or related supportive roles.
• Ability to adapt to individual learner needs and learning styles.

Responsibilities

• Support learners with SEND to achieve educational and personal goals.
• Assist learners during lessons, community activities and work placements.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive social development.
• Adapt support strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles.
• Provide personal care support where required.
• Promote positive behaviour and support learners' emotional wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to learner reviews.
• Collaborate with families and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
