Job summary

The SEND Paediatric Occupational Therapy team at Provide CIC in Colchester is seeking a Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join us on a permanent basis. You will deliver OT services for EHCPs in schools, colleges, and homes, supporting children and young people to access education with families and tutors in partnership.

You will assess, plan and implement treatment, communicate care plans, provide written reports for EHCPs, and participate in supervision and appraisal.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria: BSc(Hons) Occupational Therapy or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registered as an Occupational Therapist.
• Experience in paediatric settings and with children of differing age groups is desirable.
• IT skills and ability to work well with others are required.

Responsibilities

• To gain consent and undertake occupational therapy assessments and formulate/implement treatment plans.
• To obtain information relevant to patient care and determine discharge/ongoing care.
• To provide hands-on treatment and use developmentally appropriate play to aid skill development.
• To present treatment programmes and carry out care plans in non-clinical settings as appropriate.
• To provide written reports to contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Job Overview

The SEND Paediatric Occupational Therapy team are looking for a new Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join us!

We deliver occupational therapy provision as specified within Education Health and Care Plans ( EHCPs) with schools, colleges and homes. We support children and young people to access education and learning within these settings working in partnership with the child or young person's wider support network including teaching staff and family/carers.

We are a well established, friendly and dynamic team, committed to offering the best services possible to our clients. The service offers excellent experience with training opportunities, regular supervision and appraisals.

Main duties of the job

• To gain consent and undertake occupational therapy assessment, formulate and implement treatment plans using specialist knowledge and experience. This will include the treatment of complex patients in a manner that respects people’s choice, privacy, dignity and individuality.
• To obtain information relevant to patient care, recognising when goals are met or achievable and ensuring appropriate discharge/ongoing care.
• To provide hands on treatment and demonstrate highly developed observational skills for the assessment and therapeutic handling of patients to facilitate the development of skills and function.
• To be able to present treatment programmes and developmentally appropriate play and approaches according to age of the child. To utilise a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate and carry out a programme of care adapted to non-clinical settings.
• To provide written reports to contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans.
