Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Hearing Impairment Provision in East London. The role focuses on supporting pupils with hearing impairments in class and 1:1 settings to access learning and build communication skills.

Ideal candidates hold Level 2 or 3 BSL, have SEN experience, and hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to obtain one). You will collaborate with teachers and therapists to foster independence and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 British Sign Language qualification is essential.
• Experience in SEN settings or similar environments.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one).
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to support pupils.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with hearing impairments in lessons and around the school.
• Use BSL to facilitate communication and engagement.
• Assist with learning activities and educational targets.
• Promote independence, confidence and social development.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, speech and language therapists and other professionals.
• Ensure students receive high-quality support and care.

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs? Do you have Level 2 or Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) and experience working within SEN settings?

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist Hearing Impairment Provision within a welcoming East London school.

The Role

You will be supporting pupils with hearing impairments both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis, helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and reach their full potential.

Requirements

• Level 2 or Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification (essential)
• Previous SEN experience within a school, college, or specialist setting
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
