SEND Learning Support Mentor - SEMH, trauma, ASC

Type: temp-to-perm

Details: Full time (Monday to Friday, 9:30am - 3:30pm) Term-time only

Location Staverton, Glos.

Start date: ASAP

Pay: £12.83 - £18.80 per hour during trial period (£18,000 - £22,000 equivalent actual perm salary)

Our client runsanAlternative Education Provision service, serving primary and secondary-aged pupils with EHCPs relating mainly to ASC, SEMH with their main headquarters based in Weston Super Mare. They operate a ‘revolving-door’ offering whereby students stay at the provision for up to 18 weeks, either on a full-time or part-time basis before returning to mainstream education or attending a special school. We are currently recruiting for their Gloucester site which is based in Staverton.

We are seeking applicants with previous experience of having worked with and supported learners with additional needs relating to: SEMH & trauma who may have other needs relating to ASC / ASD. The ideal person will be able to act as a positive role model and deliver an alternative education curriculum. Many of the learners have not engaged in education for a significant amount of time so an individual approach for each child is commonly necessary.If you have already had training in positive behaviour managementsuch as Team Teach / PBM / MAPAand/or THRIVE training we would be particularly interested in hearing from you. If you have practical experience of working with children displaying challenging behaviour and are successful in your application for this post, Team Teach training will be offered free of charge and would be a requirement of the post.

The working day is from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The role is intended to transfer to a permanent contract upon successful completion of the trial period (60 paid days.)
