SEND Learning Support Assistant — 4 Days/Week (Primary)

Job summary

Tividale Community Primary is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant Level 2 to support pupils with additional needs, initially in Years 5 and 6, with flexibility to work across the school. The role involves one-to-one support for SEND pupils and collaboration with teachers.

The post is permanent from January 2027, 22 hours per week over four days (Mon-Thu, 9:00–3:30). A minimum Level 2 qualification and relevant SEND experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum Level 2 qualification with previous experience of working with primary age children with additional needs.
• Experience of supporting pupils with SEND and implementing Education/Behaviour Plans is desirable.
• Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop a holistic approach to meeting needs and help learners progress by working with teachers and staff.
• Implement Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Risk Assessments.
• Promote inclusion and assist pupils to engage in activities led by teachers.
• Encourage interaction, set high expectations and support independence.
• Help pupils build resilience and positive relationships with peers and staff.
• Attend training and collaborate with internal and external professionals.
• Monitor progress using data and share outcomes with the Inclusion Co-ordinator.
