Job Description:

We are seeking a calm, compassionate, and committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our inclusive and nurturing school community in Bristol. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupil who requires consistent, individualised assistance to manage communication difficulties and emotional regulation, both in and outside the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in a child's life. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil feel safe, understood, and confident in their learning journey, while also supporting their social development and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's communication style, emotional needs, and learning goals throughout the school day.

Develop a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil to foster a sense of security, boost self-esteem, and encourage active participation in learning activities.

Use visual supports, simplified instructions, and alternative communication strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton) as appropriate to aid understanding.

Support the pupil with managing emotions, navigating social situations, and coping with changes or transitions in routine.

Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external specialists to ensure consistent, targeted support that aligns with the pupil's education and support plan (EHCP, if applicable).

Observe and monitor progress, behaviours, and triggers, contributing valuable insights to regular reviews and planning meetings.

Maintain a calm, inclusive, and safe learning environment where the pupil feels valued, accepted, and encouraged to thrive.

What We're Looking For:

Previous experience supporting children with additional needs, particularly in areas of communication difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to behaviour management and learning support.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, liaising with school staff, families, and professionals.

A genuine commitment to supporting the wellbeing, development, and inclusion of every child.

Flexibility, resilience, and a positive attitude in responding to the pupil's individual needs and the dynamic nature of the school day.

If you are passionate about helping children grow in confidence and achieve their potential, we would love to hear from you.

Please note this role is term time only and will commence from September 2025. Full time people are preferred but part time candidates with experience will also be considered.

*If you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.
