Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Cheshire East Council is seeking a committed and experienced SEND Keyworker to join our dedicated team.

In this vital role, you will be responsible for coordinating person-centred, outcome-focused Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across the borough. You’ll maintain a caseload of children and young people, attend annual reviews, update EHCPs, and act as the main point of contact for families, schools, and professionals involved in the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the statutory assessment process and co-production of EHCPs.

  • Provide tailored advice and guidance to families, settings, and young people.

  • Liaise with education, health, and care providers to ensure appropriate placements and provision.

  • Represent the Local Authority at multi-agency meetings, formal mediation, and SEND tribunals.

  • Monitor and review the progress of children and young people with EHCPs to ensure their needs are being met effectively.

  • Support the delivery of inclusive SEND practices across the borough.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A graduate-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Social Work, Youth and Community, or Health).

  • Proven experience working with children and young people with SEND in educational or care settings.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

  • In-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.

  • A collaborative, person-centred approach to supporting families and professionals.

Desirable:

  • A post-graduate or specialist qualification in SEND or related field.

  • Experience of leading teams or managing complex casework.

  • Familiarity with SEND systems, software, and tribunal preparation.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a central role in improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. You’ll join a supportive team with a shared vision of inclusion and high-quality provision.
