We are recruiting a Job Coach with relevant SEND experience to support young adult learners to access the workplace, develop relevant skills and progress into employment. The Job Coach will also assist in sourcing potential employers, identifying possible internships through cold calling, visits and liaising with other departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in sourcing potential employers, identifying possible internships through cold calling, visits and liaising with other departments.
  • Undertake job matches and job analysis.
  • Assist interns to prepare for work interviews.
  • Support interns to develop CVs and writing skills.
  • Provide travel and mobility training.
  • Accompany interns on visits to the workplace prior to starting a job.
  • Explain an intern's strengths and support needs.
  • Share successful strategies (e.g. for communication or disciplining an intern).
  • Share information about a particular condition of impairment.
  • Introduce the intern to his/her colleagues and offer advice on how to best support and include them.
  • Identify additional and/or more challenging tasks or roles that an intern could take on.
  • Work with employers by suggesting appropriate ways to explain tasks and accessible resources.
  • Ensure interns are on task and meeting workplace standards and expectations (e.g. for time keeping/attendance).
  • Attend workplace inductions and first day or first few weeks at work (offering reassurance, how to perform work duties).
  • Mentoring and confidence building.
  • Learn the job role in readiness for training the intern.
  • Train the intern to master tasks.
  • Model workplace behaviours.
  • Target set, monitor and review progress as well as encouraging interns self-assessment/reflection.
  • Make regular workplace visits.
