Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a SENDIASS Service Lead to manage and develop its educational support service. This role involves case work with families, leading a team, and collaboration with local partners to enhance services for children with special educational needs. Applicants should possess strong communication skills, organizational capabilities, and the ability to adapt the service to meet changing needs.
Westmorland and Furness Special Educational Needs Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IASS) is a statutory service, which is runat 'arm's length' from the Local Authority. We provide free, confidential, impartial advice and guidance to support parents of children with special educational needs and children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
This role would involve leading our SENDIASS service, with line management responsibilities for three part-time co-ordinators, as well as promoting and developing the service to meet the needs of children, young people and their families, working with a range of partners including health, social care, education and school colleagues.
As well as the management and development of the SENDIASS service, this role would involve case work with children, young people, their families and a wide range of professionals including schools, colleges and the statutory SEND service to ensure the best possible outcomes for those with SEND and their families.
SENDIASS covers the whole of the Westmorland & Furness footprint, and you would be responsible for the service across the authority; however, the case work element of this role would be mainly within the Barrow/Ulverston areas.
This role is for 22.2 hours per week and could be worked as three full-time days, or across four shorter days. Whilst the exact days/times will be agreed with the successful candidate, one of these days must include a Friday, to ensure we have full cover for the service.
