Job summary

Quantum Scholars are recruiting an experienced SEND Independence Mentor to support three boys in Wokingham who attend Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) provision from September.

The role focuses on 1:1 mentoring to boost confidence, independence and essential life skills, helping pupils achieve positive outcomes in education and daily life.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a SEND Independence/Learning Mentor or similar role.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including social, emotional and behavioural needs (desirable).
• Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and personal development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and adaptability; able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and professionals.

SEND Independence Mentor - Wokingham

Quantum Scholars are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate SEND Independence Mentor to provide 1:1 support/mentoring for three young boys in Wokingham who are accessing Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS) provision from September.

You will play a key role in helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and essential life skills, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes both now and in the future.

As a SEND Independence Mentor, you will deliver engaging and meaningful sessions tailored to each pupil's individual needs. Your focus will be on supporting their social, emotional and personal development, encouraging independence, and helping them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive both in education and everyday life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing 1:1 support tailored to each pupil's individual needs and abilities.

• Working collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals involved in the pupils' support where required.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience working as a SEND Independence/Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Tutor or in a similar role supporting children and young people with additional needs.
• Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, including social, emotional and behavioural needs (desirable).
• Be passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and personal development.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be patient, empathetic and adaptable in their approach.
• Be confident building positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and professionals alike.
• Have a genuine commitment to supporting young people to reach their full potential.

This is a part-time position offering 11 hours of support per week. The provision is expected to run throughout the full academic year from September, with the potential to continue beyond this period.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy
