Job summary

Elementa Support Services Ltd is seeking a SEND Humanities Teacher for a maternity cover in Bridgwater. The role is full-time, starting September 2026, with daily pay between £168 and £261 via PAYE.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS, have History KS3/KS4 experience, and be able to support pupils with additional needs. The successful candidate will plan engaging lessons and collaborate with staff to ensure excellent pupil outcomes.

Qualifications

• QTS is required and KS3/KS4 History experience preferred.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable.
• Strong classroom management and organisation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated History lessons for KS3/KS4.
• Adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs and ensure curriculum access.
• Collaborate with support staff, families and external professionals to support pupils.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Ideally, experience working within a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting, or a genuine willingness to support pupils with a range of additional needs.
• A nurturing, patient, and inclusive approach to teaching, with the ability to build positive relationships and foster pupil confidence.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and ensure all pupils can access the curriculum.
• The ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated History lessons that inspire and support learners of varying abilities.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills, working effectively with colleagues, support staff, families, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for pupils.
• Availability to work full‑time from as soon as possible, with flexibility to provide cover through October half term and potentially until Christmas.

• Weekly pay – no waiting for monthly payroll cut‑off dates; Elementa pays one week in lieu.
