Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, experienced, and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support pupils in an inspirational SEND School in Houghton-le-Spring on a full-time basis. This role offers the opportunity to lead in the Learning Support Department and foster positive relationships with pupils to impact their lives positively, supporting their progress and development.

• The role is based in an SEND School in Houghton-le-Spring supporting pupils aged 2-11 across primary years, with opportunities to support all year groups based on your preference and expertise.

Pay, Hours, and Contract:

About the HLTA Role:

• Supporting pupils with SEND across EYFS/KS1, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, SLD, and MLD, with varying needs including personal care and communication challenges.
• Planning and delivering learning activities in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
• Building rapport and positive relationships to facilitate engagement and progress academically and socially.
• Developing understanding of individual needs and learning styles, collaborating closely with teachers and colleagues.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

• Supporting Teaching and Learning or HLTA qualification.
• Experience working with children in UK schools, preferably in an SEND setting.
• Experience in planning and delivering small-group learning activities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Passion for supporting pupils with SEND.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced child DBS certificate registered with the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references from the last two years.
