Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking an Early Years Inclusion Officer to enable children aged 0 to 5 with SEND to learn, develop and reach their full potential. You will identify SEND early, plan developmentally appropriate activities and maintain assessments and records for each child.

You will build strong relationships with families and professionals, producing reports and professional advice both verbally and in writing, while working in a hybrid arrangement with supportive pre-employment

Qualifications

• Hold a BTEC in Nursery Nursing / Level 4 Caring for Children and Young People or an equivalent qualification with post-qualifying experience.
• Knowledge of what constitutes good practice in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Extensive knowledge of inclusive early years practice and SEN Code of Practice.
• Experience in multi-agency working and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver inclusive early years programmes through Portage groups, home visits and stay-and-play sessions.
• Support the planning and delivery of multi-agency assessment activities.
• Contribute to service improvement by reviewing provision and identifying gaps.
• Provide advice and practical strategies to support children with SEND and specific disabilities.
• Maintain accurate records of children's progress and produce clear high-quality reports.
