Job summary

The deputy post sits within the ICB SEND Team and supports the Designated Clinical Officer, deputising when required. The role centers on clinical input to Education, Health and Care Plans, multi-agency assessments, SEND service improvement and tribunals for children and young people aged 0-25.

The post requires on-site presence of at least two days a week with flexible working supported. A degree or equivalent experience and membership of a relevant clinical professional body are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Membership of a relevant clinical professional body.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of statutory SEND responsibilities for 0–25.
• Provide clinical guidance on complex SEND cases and EHCP requirements.
• Lead and coordinate SEND workstreams, projects and multi-agency assessments.
• Ensure high-quality health advice within EHCPs.
• Collaborate with health services, local authorities, education settings, families and voluntary organisations.
• Support quality assurance, audits and service evaluation.
• Develop policies, procedures and training to improve SEND practice.
• Represent the ICB at SEND tribunals and other multi-agency meetings.
• Manage risks, performance information, case records and statutory documentation.
• Contribute to service planning and commissioning decisions.
• Oversee and support team members and deputise for the DCO.
