Job summary

Rutland County Council is seeking a dedicated professional to join our SEND and Inclusion team to coordinate Education, Health and Care assessments and EHCP processes, ensuring high-quality, person-centred support in line with statutory requirements. The role collaborates with families, schools and partners to deliver SEND reforms and improve outcomes for children and young people.

The post holder will contribute to service improvement, maintain records, and support mediation and tribunal

Rutland County Council is seeking enthusiastic, talented and committed professionals to join our growing SEND and Inclusion team as we deliver an ambitious programme of local and national SEND reforms.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a more inclusive education system that puts children, young people and families at the heart of everything we do. Our SEND Reform Programme is focused on strengthening inclusion in mainstream education, improving partnership working across education, health and care, embedding co-production with families, and ensuring children and young people receive the right support at the right time.

A rewarding role supporting children and young people through statutory SEND processes, you will coordinate Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments, manage EHCP processes, work closely with families and partners, and help ensure children receive the support they need to thrive.

About the role

This role is responsible for managing and coordinating the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and review process, ensuring children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive high-quality, person-centred support in line with statutory requirements and SEND reforms. The postholder will work closely with children, families, schools and professionals to undertake needs-led assessments, develop and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and ensure outcomes reflect the aspirations and needs of each child or young person. They will maintain accurate case records, monitor provision and outcomes, support mediation and tribunal processes, commission services that provide value for money, and ensure statutory timescales are met. The role also contributes to service improvement, quality assurance, partnership working and the development of integrated services that promote positive outcomes for children and young people across Rutland.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Costs for the DBS are covered by Rutland County Council.

Please note that you will need a full driving licence to enable you to travel across the county.
