SEND Case Officer (EHCP Process Support)

Location: SE London

Hybrid Working: First 2 weeks in-office, then 2 days office / 3 days home

Contract Type: Full time / Temporary

Salary: £18 to £20 per hour

About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated and highly organised SEND Case Officer to join our team and support the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment process. You'll ensure children and young people with special educational needs receive timely and effective support, following the SEND Code of Practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for families and professionals at the start of the EHC needs assessment process.
  • Manage and allocate caseloads to ensure compliance with statutory timescales.
  • Communicate clearly and sensitively with families and young people, guiding them through the EHCP process.
  • Liaise with parents, schools, and multi-agency professionals regarding assessment requests and reviews.
  • Monitor incoming reports to ensure legal requirements are met.
  • Support the Head of SEND Assessment and Review Service with administrative tasks.
  • Coordinate input from social care, health professionals, educational psychologists, and other agencies.
  • Organise and manage SEND panels, ensuring smooth coordination.
  • Provide responsive support across the SEND team.
  • Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, ensuring swift responses.
  • Prioritise and escalate urgent issues as needed.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice is desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders under pressure.

Working Arrangement

  • Weeks 1–2: Full-time in-office for onboarding and training.
  • After Week 2: Hybrid model — 2 days in-office, 3 days remote.
