You work alongside the SEND Partnership Manager and SEND Assessment Manager to deliver an outstanding cross-college service coordinating high needs funding (HNF) assessments and the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process including consultations, annual reviews and new requests.

The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally and nationally. We were judged Good by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2023, with outstanding features.

JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Undertake robust HNF assessments and meet local authority deadlines when completing applications detailing individual needs and the provision required

Work collaboratively with schools, parents/carers and other involved professionals when undertaking HNF assessments

Maintain detailed records of HNF assessments and EHCP annual reviews storing background reports centrally and confidentially in accordance with GDPR

Coordinate the preparation of EHCP documentation and chair annual reviews

Work closely with curriculum staff to ensure a consistency in the annual review processes and provide guidance in setting EHCP outcomes

Liaise with Curriculum Heads and Deputies, ALS and other cross college staff to ensure there is full compliance with SEN Code of Practice including statutory timeframes

Work with colleagues across the college to ensure we are providing necessary safeguarding support for students

GENERAL DUTIES

To contribute to the effective management and promotion of equality and diversity

To work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, ensuring the College is a safe environment for staff, students and visitors.

To promote with staff and students the importance of safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults they are responsible for and come into contact with.

To work at all times in accordance with North Hertfordshire College’s policies and procedures.

To carry out such duties as may be required from time to time by the college that are appropriate to the grade of the post
