Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority inGreenwichto assist with the appointment of aSEND Assessment and Review Assistant, on a 4.5-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £14.74-£18.49/hour

Summary:

The SEND Assessment and Review Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and review process for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This includes acting as a primary point of contact for families and professionals, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales, coordinating multi-agency inputs, and providing high-quality administrative and organizational support across the SEND service.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the initial contact for families and professionals beginning the EHC needs assessment process.
  • Manage a caseload to ensure the service meets statutory deadlines under the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with families and young people throughout the EHCP process.
  • Coordinate with parents, schools, and professionals to ensure accurate and timely documentation for assessments and annual reviews.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of SEND Assessment and Review, including scheduling, meeting preparation, and diary management.

Requirements:

  • Good general standard of education.
  • Knowledge of the SEND assessment framework and the DfE SEND Code of Practice (2014).
  • Proficiency in IT and office software, with strong skills in maintaining digital records and workflow systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle public inquiries with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize workload under pressure.
