An experienced and dedicated SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) is required for an outstanding secondary school in Christchurch. Your Role as SENCo:

  • Lead and manage the SEN department, ensuring high standards of support for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Oversee the development of individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure that interventions are tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to provide advice and strategies for supporting students with additional needs in the classroom.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students with SEN, ensuring that targets are met and progress is tracked effectively.
  • Provide guidance and training for staff on SEN best practices, ensuring the school remains compliant with relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring open lines of communication about students’ progress and wellbeing.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified teacher with experience working in special education and a deep understanding of SEND provisions.
  • A strong understanding of the Code of Practice for SEN and experience in creating and implementing IEPs.
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a team of teaching assistants.
  • A proactive approach to developing SEN provision within a mainstream school setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both with students and external agencies.
  • Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
