Job summary

Polaris Education is recruiting a SENCO for Easthorpe School in the East Midlands. The role covers strategic SEN policy development, co-ordination of EHCPs and collaboration with teachers, tutors and external partners to support pupils aged 7-13 with SEMH and neurodiversity.

The successful candidate will lead interventions, supervise safeguarding duties and contribute to school improvement through effective SEN provision and training. DBS check required and a SEN-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• QTS is required with SENCO recognition (NASENCO or NPQ preferred)
• Experience in SEN provision, SEMH and Autism support
• Involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning
• Experience delivering staff training and leading INSET
• Sound knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes
• Experience completing EHCP annual reviews
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and safeguarding requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop SEN policy and provision across the school
• Design and deliver targeted interventions to reduce attainment gaps
• Assess and monitor pupil progress in line with EHCPs
• Coordinate and chair EHCP annual reviews
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
• Lead Early Help initiatives and multi-agency meetings
• Hold Designated Teacher responsibilities for looked-after children
• Liaise with Headteacher, tutors and parents on learning plans
• Oversee day-to-day SEN policy operations and provision
• Maintain accurate records and support staff in teaching programs
