Are you a dedicated and experienced educator with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are looking for a SENCO to join our thriving primary school in Newham, starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering an exciting opportunity to lead and develop SEND provision in a supportive and inclusive environment. Interviews will be held soon!

SENCO Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision, ensuring high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies for students with SEND.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans), ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of SEND students, implementing interventions where necessary.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEND best practices.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child’s progress and support strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop whole-school SEND policies and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Stay up to date with changes in SEND legislation and best practices, ensuring the school remains compliant and innovative in its approach.
SENCO Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
  • Experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
