  • Job Title: SENCO
  • Salary: Up to GBP53,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)
  • Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 8HZ
  • Contract: Permanent; Term Time only
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Start: September 2025

About the Role

The SENDCO will ensure effective management of Special Education Needs provision, meeting all legal and statutory requirements for students needing SEN. The role involves providing professional guidance to teaching staff, overseeing EHCP reviews, liaising with multi-agency professionals, and ensuring high standards of SEN support.

Essential Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
  • Completed or working towards the SENCo qualification
  • Qualification in special educational needs
Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain high standards in SEN responsibilities within the Education Team
  • Maximize learning opportunities for all students
  • Monitor and evaluate SEN support quality, implementing improvements as needed
  • Collaborate with therapy teams and other professionals to support SEN delivery
  • Participate in statutory reviews, prepare reports, and maintain SEN policies
  • Oversee and monitor EHCPs/IEPs and other support plans
  • Use Provision Mapping to track provisions
  • Participate in PEP and LAC reviews
  • Support a small teaching role within the school
