Job summary

Outcomes First Group’s Tilewood School in Buckinghamshire seeks a senior SEND leader to establish an outstanding SEND provision from the ground up. You will design systems, lead EHCP processes and coach staff to deliver personalised support for pupils with autism and additional needs.

As a founding member of the school’s SLT, you will drive strategy, policy and curriculum development, ensuring compliant practice, family partnerships, and high expectations across Key Stages 1–2.

Qualifications

  • Highly knowledgeable about SEND legislation, statutory processes and best practice.
  • Excellent communicator who builds trust with families and professionals.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for learners.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • NASENCO qualification.
  • Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across both sites, including EHCP processes, Annual Reviews and SEND Code of Practice compliance.
  • Track, monitor and analyse pupil progress, baselining, screening and targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy.
  • Organise and chair ePEP meetings for looked after children, ensuring progress and proper use of Pupil Premium Plus funding.
  • Provide strategic leadership on SEND policy, Teaching & Learning development and graduated approach with SLT and therapy team.
  • Maintain strong communications with parents, carers, staff and external agencies for smooth transitions and accurate SEND records.
  • Identify staff training needs and contribute to the school’s CPD plan.
  • Ensure learning environments, curriculum materials and teaching approaches meet pupils’ needs and diverse backgrounds.
  • Contribute to whole-school planning and reporting, including SEN Information Report and annual improvement plan.

Location: Tilewood School – Buckinghamshire, MK18 5AN

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent | Term time only

About the Role

As a founding member of Tilewood School, a brand-new specialist school opening in Buckinghamshire, you'll play a pivotal role in creating an exceptional learning environment where every child is empowered to thrive.As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the strategic vision and development of our SEND provision, ensuring that every pupil receives the personalised support, challenge and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential. Working in close partnership with colleagues, families, therapists and external professionals, you'll help establish a culture where inclusion, ambition and high expectations are woven into every aspect of school life.This is a rare chance to build an outstanding SEND provision from the ground up. What you will be doing
  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across both sites, including EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.

  • Organise and chair all ePEP meetings for looked after children, ensuring progress, compliance, and effective use of Pupil Premium Plus funding.
  • Provide strategic leadership on SEND policy, Teaching & Learning development, and the graduated approach in collaboration with the Headteacher and therapy team.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents, carers, staff, and external agencies, ensuring smooth transitions and accurate, up‑to‑date SEND records.
  • Identify staff training needs and contribute to the school’s CPD plan, supporting high‑quality teaching and inclusive practice.
  • Ensure learning environments, curriculum materials, and teaching approaches meet pupils’ needs and reflect their backgrounds and cultures.
  • Contribute to whole‑school planning and reporting, including the SEN Information Report, Pupil Premium Plus impact statement, and the annual SEN improvement plan.

About Us

Tilewood School is an exciting new addition to the Options Autism family, provisionally set to open its doors in April 2027. Designed to support up to 72 students aged 5 to 16, the school will offer a nurturing and inclusive learning environment tailored to meet the diverse needs of its pupils.
