Overview

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced SEN Tutors in and around St Helens to deliver high-quality 1:1 tuition in Maths and English from KS1 through to KS4. This is a part-time, flexible role (approx. 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm) perfect for qualified teachers looking to step back into teaching or retired teachers wanting to make a difference for vulnerable children.

  • Location: St Helens and surrounding areas (local travel required)
  • Hours: Approx. 25 per week, Monday to Friday (flexible within 9am and 3pm)
  • Pay: GBP27-GBP30 per hour, depending on experience
  • Contract: Ongoing, part-time, flexible
  • Subjects: Maths and English (KS1 - KS4, depending on tutor preference)
  • Start date: ASAP
Requirements
  • Strong SEN experience (minimum 2 years preferred) this is essential
  • Experience teaching/tutoring within the UK curriculum
  • QTS desirable (but not essential if strong SEN background)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Ability to travel across St Helens and surrounding areas
  • Caring, patient, and empathetic approach when supporting vulnerable pupils
  • Confident delivering both Maths and English
Further Information

A therapeutic and flexible teaching style is often required to help re-engage pupils, support their confidence, and guide them back into routine learning.

Prospero will support you with regular check-ins, and tutors are expected to complete weekly progress reports for each pupil.
