Empower Students with SEN Become an SEN Tutor

Are you experienced in supporting students with Special Educational Needs?
Do you enjoy working 1:1 or in small groups, making tailored learning accessible, meaningful, and impactful?

Smart Education is seeking SEN Tutors to support young learners across Teesside and surrounding areas , delivering personalised tuition either in-school, at alternative provision settings, or in-home/online (depending on the learner s needs).

This is a rewarding opportunity for experienced tutors, teachers, or support staff with specialist SEN knowledge who want to help learners re-engage, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Delivering tailored lessons in English, Maths, or other core subjects based on each student s EHCP or individual learning needs
  • Supporting learners with a range of needs including autism, SEMH, ADHD, MLD, and anxiety-related non-attendance
  • Creating safe, engaging, and consistent learning environments (at home, in school, or online)
  • Working closely with schools, local authorities, or families to track and report on progress
  • Promoting student wellbeing, confidence, and motivation to learn

What We re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or relevant tutoring/teaching support experience in SEN
  • Experience working with children and young people with additional needs
  • A flexible, patient, and creative approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service or willingness to apply
  • Access to your own transport (for face-to-face tuition roles)
