At GSL Education Kent, we’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant in Tonbridge — perfect for individuals with a sports coaching background who are eager to support children with additional needs in an educational setting.

This is your chance to bring your motivational skills, physical activity expertise, and team-building mindset into the classroom. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping children with autism, SEMH, and other learning challenges thrive both emotionally and academically.

The school is a supportive and inclusive environment in Tonbridge, known for its commitment to student well-being and staff development. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values creativity, structure, and positive relationships.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
  • Using physical activity and movement-based strategies to support engagement and regulation.
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
  • Creating a structured, active, and encouraging environment that promotes growth and confidence.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to provide holistic support.

To be considered for this SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) role, you will:

  • Have a background in Sports Coaching or a similar physical activity-based role.
  • Be confident supporting children with additional and complex needs.
  • Bring energy, patience, and a proactive, caring approach to every day.
  • Be adaptable and able to follow guidance while using your initiative.
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service.

  • A dedicated consultant who will guide you through the recruitment and placement process.
  • Opportunities to make a genuine difference in the lives of young learners.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
