SEN Teaching Assistant

- Permanent, Full time (32.5 hours per week)

A busy community primary school in Peckham, Southwark is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday during school term time. The working hours are 8.30am-3.30pm.

In this role, you will work one-on-one with a child who has complex learning needs, providing a nurturing, supportive, and safe environment. Your aim will be to encourage and motivate the child to reach their full potential. You will receive strong support from the Class Teacher and the wider staff team, making this position ideal for someone passionate about enhancing children's education and seeking a rewarding career in the education sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the child's learning on a 1:1 basis, which may occasionally take place outside the main classroom setting.
  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with ASD, is essential.
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach is required.
  • Ability to use initiative and work independently is important.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration.
  • A good understanding of how children learn, along with previous experience in a similar role, will be highly beneficial.
