Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Waltham Forest

Contract Type: Long term position, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4pm

Rate: Negotiable (depending on experience)

Start Date: September 2025

Are you a passionate and dedicated individual with a strong desire to support children with Special Educational Needs? A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide targeted support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. Your role will be pivotal in helping students access the curriculum and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons and activities =.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of all students.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and external agencies to support students' progress and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for making a difference in students' lives.
