Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Tonbridge
Salary Range: £90+ per day (depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

Are you a skilled SEN Teaching Assistant with proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL)?

GSL Education are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) to provide 1-1 support to a pupil with special educational needs in Tonbridge. This long-term, full-time position requires someone passionate about working with SEN students and can effectively communicate using BSL.

About the role:

In the role of a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be responsible for providing tailored support to help the pupil with their learning, communication, and social development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide 1-1 support for a pupil with special educational needs, ensuring their academic and social development.
  2. Use British Sign Language (BSL) to communicate effectively with the pupil and facilitate their understanding of lessons.
  3. Collaborate with the class teacher to implement and adapt lesson plans to meet the pupil's needs.
  4. Monitor the pupil's progress and provide feedback to the teacher and other relevant professionals.
  5. Encourage the pupil's independence and social engagement, supporting them in a variety of school activities.

Requirements:
  1. Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  2. Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.
  3. Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Speech and Language difficulties.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  6. A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  7. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
